Fighting for every vote
Who says money is everything in politics. George Soros is infinitely richer than Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. ever was, but he couldn't manage to steal a presidential election. Of course, old Joe had the advantage of operating in a time when there were more ward heelers and fewer lawyers involved. He also bought the cooperation of organized crime.
Anyway, John Edwards made the statement on behalf of John Kerry that they are going to keep fighting for every vote. And we all know what that means.
The ACLU is already in court in Florida to try to extend the deadline for domestic absentee ballots to match that for overseas ballots.
Litigation in Ohio is expected momentarily - remember over half the voters there use punchcards and there were complaints even before the election because the ballot key scrambles the order of listing presidential tickets from one precinct to the next and only occasionally does the name line up with the hole to be punched.
There are other states where the Bush margin appears low and the lawyers may get in the act in those as well.
It really doesn't matter if Kerry's cause is lost, they absolutely have no choice but to contest the election in as many places as possible. They must do this to feed the notion that their supporters were victimized by the unscrupulous Republicans.
