The timing wasn't political

Illegal Workers Arrested In 6-State ID Theft Sweep - washingtonpost.com:
"Federal agents targeting illegal immigrants raided meatpacking plants in six states yesterday, arresting hundreds of workers on the uncommon charge of identity theft and shutting down the world's second-largest meat processing company for much of the day."

The next time someone complains about how Karl Rove orchestrates everything the Bush administration does for political effect, remind them of this. A raid like this in October might have saved a few seats in the House and Senate.

I agree. But, I don't think Rove, the Dems or even the mainstream media understand how intense the outrage is outside the beltway about the illegal immigration issue. I and this crowd will not stand for PR stunts for long. We blog and discuss and don't wait for the MSM media filter.

The feds continue to resist establishing a secure, online database which would allow employers to enter data (name; age; sex; SSN; and, Green Card Number) from a potential employee's application; and, immediately receive a yes/no response regarding legitimacy. We're talking about a lookup table linking two source databases: SSA and ICE.

This ain't rocket surgery or brain science! The potential employer does not need the correct data set from the database, only the indication that the data set is consistent or inconsistent.
