Keeping Watch and OldPolitico - a debate begins?

Keeping Watch:

"Katrina, and the philosophy of Government"

Under that heading, JR at Keeping Watch offers some interesting thoughts on shifting Republican ideology and its implications for Katrina and government more generally. Coming from a liberal perspective, it is perhaps inevitable that the point is made that the GOP has been drifting away from its commitment to small government and yet Republicans cannot be trusted to govern because they are skeptical of government's power to do good.

Still, it is interesting material and an important subject I hope to return to myself in the coming days. For a preview of my take on this subject, see my entry "Bush struggles to save his political life - the Constitution is dead" from the early hours of Sunday, September 4.

Not surprisingly, Vox Day has something very useful to say on a related subject, in a post headed The crux of the matter.
