Times-Picayune: Fire every FEMA official!

WorldNetDaily: Paper: Fire every FEMA official! :

"'Every official at the Federal Emergency Management Agency should be fired, Director Michael Brown especially,' the [Times-Picayune] paper states today in an open letter to Bush in its print edition."

The paper seems to have caught Dir. Brown in some rather large and particularly stupid lies. If the facts are as alleged, he ought to be removed for stupidity - but that has never been a reason for firing federal bureaucrats, more like a job requirement.

I have been around politics long enough to know that the inevitable post-mortem blue ribbon commission inquiry into this debacle in New Orleans will be just another whitewash like the 9/11 Commission or the Volcker investigation. Still, it would be nice to think that just once someone in government might be held responsible for what they did and what they failed to do.

Personally, I think the warfare metaphors are overdone and it is not time to call in the firing squad, yet. But there will be a time soon for such blame-fixing and it needs to be done so the same incompetents will not be in charge the next time.
